Admission Requirements

 

Florida Atlantic University GradCAS application system (click on underlined hyperlink)

Official transcripts from all prior institutions attended. All concentrations submit one set of official transcripts to FAU Graduate Admissions* in the GradCAS application system.  

Earned BSN from a regionally accredited university and a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program 
Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the final 60 baccalaureate-level course credits in the BSN program, or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores are required for applicants with a grade point average of less than 3.0. 
Basic statistics course (FAU STA2014 or STA2023 or equivalent)
Baccalaureate level nursing research course 
It is recommended (not required) that applicants enrolling in MSN concentrations requiring the Direct Care Core take undergraduate pathophysiology, health assessment and pharmacology or retake the courses they are more than five years from admission.

One electronic letter of recommendation requested through the GradCAS System. You will need to provide a name and email address for the person providing the recommendation.

Current RN licensure (submit copy of license or online license verification from the department of health acceptable

Students must be licensed in the state in which they will complete practicum courses. 
A state/federal criminal background check is required for all admitted students. If admitted to the graduate nursing program the student MUST initiate the background check process as required before enrolling in courses. Costs are the responsibility of the applicant/student.  All admissions are conditional based on the outcome of the admission background check. Background checks must be updated annually during the clinical portion of the program. 

 

Applicants must meet all admission requirements and submit all supplemental application materials. Incomplete applicants will not be considered for admission.
