BSN Program Overview
Welcome to the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program where we study Nursing as a discipline of knowledge and as a profession grounded in caring science. Upon fulfillment of program outcomes, students will earn the BSN degree. This degree is the foundation of professional Nursing.
We prepare our BSN students to nurture the wholeness of persons and environment through caring as providers, designers, managers, and coordinators of direct and indirect care of all persons, families, groups, and populations. We embrace diversity and so you will care for persons across the lifespan and from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. Ultimately, living nursing as caring is an expectation of all program graduates.
Students enrolled in the BSN program have opportunities to participate with faculty and graduate students who are conducting research and evidence-based practice projects. Students and faculty co-create and publish their scholarly work contributing to Nursing’s body of knowledge that will impact outcomes in healthcare delivery. Students also participate in shared governance within the College of Nursing through committee membership where they have a vote alongside the faculty. Our BSN students learn how to be leaders at the point of care.
The BSN program is limited access and highly competitive. As the program is very rigorous, it demands commitment on the part of the student. Clinical experiences occur in a wide variety of hospital and community settings serving diverse populations. Our BSN graduates are prepared as general clinical practitioners and scholars in caring science; eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®) in order to secure licensure as a Registered Nurse; and prepared for graduate study in Nursing.
The Honors in Nursing Program begins Fall 2016 providing a highly select group of students an enriched learning experience. For more information, please click on the ‘Honors in Nursing Program’ tab under BSN Program.
The College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and has multiple points of distinction. We have a prestigious and highly accomplished faculty who are practitioners and scholars in caring science. We have one of the most diverse and accomplished student bodies in the country. All programs in the College of Nursing are endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Certification Corporation which means BSN students are eligible to be certified by the AHNCC upon graduation.
As all our programs, the BSN program is dedicated to caring; advancing the science, studying the meaning, practicing the art, and living caring day-to-day. My staff and I are here to help guide you on this wonderful journey in becoming a Christine E. Lynn BSN graduate!
