Resources

The Financial Aid Office at Florida Atlantic University offers students assistance with financial planning and locating a variety of funding sources for loans and scholarships. Federal loans and financial aid are available for undergraduate and graduate students. There are also scholarship opportunities for nursing education available to undergraduate degree students and master's degree students, offered by the University and outside providers. Doctoral students are also eligible for a number of scholarships and fellowship grants.

 

Financial Aid

A completed FAFSA Application (https://www.fau.edu/finaid/) is required to receive any financial aid -- including scholarships, grants and loans for federal financial assistance.   

 

Federal Scholarships for Nursing Education

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will accept applications https://bhw.hrsa.gov/funding/apply-scholarship/nurse-corps  through June 30 for its fiscal year Nursing Scholarship Program. The program provides scholarships to eligible nursing students in exchange for at least two years of service at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses. HRSA expects to award 220 scholarships this year, with preference given to applicants enrolled or accepted as full-time students in an undergraduate nursing program.

THE 2024-2025 FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID) IS OPEN AS OF OCTOBER 1ST, 2023!

Students can begin filling out online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  When filling out the application, make sure to complete the planned housing code (on Step 6, Housing Plan, on your FAFSA form) with your appropriate housing status, since leaving this section blank could result in underfunding.

 

Scholarship Information for Nursing Students

The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing administers supplemental scholarship support for eligible, fully admitted undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students with financial need.  These scholarships are awarded for the Fall and Spring semesters. 

Some scholarships provided specifically for nursing students are offered by outside providers.  A limited list of scholarship information is given below:

General Information Florida Blue Health Equity Nursing Scholars Program (HENS) is a program designed to address the nationwide health equity crisis. Through a three-pronged approach, FAU Nursing is poised to shift the status quo in underserved healthcare in South Florida and beyond. HENS supports a cohort of five diverse, exemplar nursing students selected per year. Through scholarships & programming, Florida Blue is providing student resources helping to create opportunities and remove barriers for students and community members. HENS scholars intentionally learn about the social determinants of health, how to ensure health equity, and apply integrative health care, both primary care and behavioral health integration, and understand the importance of cross-sector collaboration and inter-professional practice.
Target Population First year full-time FAU Nursing students.
Amount $5000 per year (up to 4 years)
Requirements
  • Must be committed to FAU Nursing program for 4 years.
  • Attend a monthly lecture.
  • Complete several clinical rotations as FAU/NCHA Community Health Center with a focus on caring for underserved populations to improve health outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a quality improvement or evidence-based practice project while at CHC.
  • Serve as student representative on curriculum committee or Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity taskforce to inform curriculum revision
