The Clinical Nurse Leader or CNL® is a master’s educated nurse, prepared for practice across the continuum of care within any healthcare setting. The CNL was developed by AACN in collaboration with leaders from healthcare practice and education to address the critical need to improve the quality of patient care outcomes. The Clinical Nurse Leader track at Florida Atlantic University is a 33 credit program leading to a Master of Science degree in Nursing and qualifies the graduate to sit for the Clinical Nurse Leader certification examination. Courses are provided by the FAU colleges of Nursing and Business, both of which are nationally accredited colleges. The Clinical Nurse Leader is a part-time program designed to be completed in seven (7) semesters. At the completion of coursework students are required to complete a 400 hour practicum under the guidance of a master’s prepared preceptor and the concentration faculty that can be completed in their place of employment.
