Christine E. Lynn

Biography

Over the past 30 years, Christine E. Lynn has supported nursing, healthcare and education with an unstoppable energy.  Without the unwavering support of Mrs. Lynn and her late husband Gene, the College of Nursing at FAU would not be in existence today.

Gene M. Lynn was among the original benefactors who provided the seed money to start FAU's nursing program in 1979.  Mrs. Lynn's continued support over more than two decades has allowed the College to enhance its programs, especially those focused on caring, gerontology and community outreach to the underserved.

In October 2005, we witnessed her latest tribute of caring as we dedicated the new home of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.  The new facility, which positions the College to provide innovative leadership in nursing education, reflects Mrs. Lynn's belief in and passion for nursing.  A registered nurse who has also served as a surgical nurse, Mrs. Lynn understands the importance of quality healthcare and has committed her energy and resources to enhancing the health and well-being of the South Florida region.

Christine E. Lynn is president and chief executive officer of Lynn Insurance Group, and serves as vice chairwoman of the Boca Raton Community Hospital Board of Directors.  She has received numerous awards locally and nationally, including honorary degrees from FAU and Lynn University.

On May 11, 2013, Mrs. Lynn received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor, given to a distinguished American citizen who exemplifies a life dedicated to community service, who makes a better world for all of us. Past medalists include six US Presidents, Nobel Prize winners and leaders of industry, education, the arts, sports and government, along with everyday Americans who have made freedom and compassion part of their life's work.
