Stephanie Sommer , DNP 

My name is Stephanie Sommer-Falkowitz. I completed my BSN and MSN at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University. I am currently a Doctor of Nursing Practice Student looking forward to graduating in the fall. I am an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner in Palm Beach County, currently caring for patients in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. I enjoy being a clinical preceptor and find great satisfaction when students are excited about learning.
The Covid 19 epidemic has been extremely challenging mentally, physically, and spiritually for health care providers. We have been discouraged from sending patients to the hospital unless they require intubation. I have seen respiratory, cardiac, GI, neurological, hematological, psychological, and cutaneous manifestations of this virus. Many providers have chosen not to enter these facilities for obvious reasons, so it has become our responsibility to care for conditions we would normally refer to specialists. We have all learned a great deal and continue to learn as things change from week to week. We have seen a lot of death, but we have also seen miracles. The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing has made me the best version of myself. I am proud to be a Florida Atlantic University Nursing Graduate.
