DNP to PhD Option

For DNP Students and Graduates who are interested in pursuing the PhD:

Graduates of DNP programs who wish to apply to the PhD program should submit a transcript and make an appointment with the Director of the PhD in Nursing Program to plan a course of study that meets their individual needs. As a research-based degree, the PhD is significantly different from the DNP curriculum. This sample plan of study illustrates how previous course work might be transferred in to meet some of the requirements of the PhD program. Applicants may also choose to challenge 1 or 2 courses.

*Students pay a fee to challenge select courses by taking an examination or by writing a paper.

**Transfer students submit a transcript for evaluation and plan of study will be individualized.
