Preceptor Spotlight: Alumna Jennifer Rogers, MSN ‘20
Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing alumna Jennifer Rogers, MSN ‘20, is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Whole Family Health Center, a nonprofit community health center in Vero Beach. She was born and raised in Germany, and in 2012, Rogers and her family relocated to Florida. Since 2016, she has practiced as an RN, and in 2018, she switched her focus to mental health.
In addition to her duties at the health center, Rogers also serves as a preceptor for Florida Atlantic nursing students. For her, precepting is immensely rewarding because she can see the growth of her students throughout their clinical experience.
“As preceptors, we can share our knowledge and passion with future nurses and help them gain the required confidence and skills to be successful in the profession,” stated Rogers. “Florida Atlantic nursing students will make a positive difference in their patients because they are caring and empathetic. Those qualities will ensure that they will continue to provide excellent care and inspire future generations to join the profession.”
Rogers first became interested in the nursing profession when her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five. Thanks to some wonderful nurses, Rogers and her family were well taken care of during that difficult time.
She began her nursing journey at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce and obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees. Rogers continued her education at Florida Atlantic to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. She went on to work as an RN in the emergency department before switching to an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.
Rogers is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nursing Association, as well as Florida Atlantic’s Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Societies.
