Student Nurses Association soars at state conference

More than 1,400 students from 60 nursing programs across the state were in attendance at the event.
A testament to their outstanding work, five of these Student Nurses Association (SNA) members are now officers at the state level, including Chris Demezier, state president, Rachel Kelley, first vice president; Queen Aisha Abdul Akbar, state treasurer; Nigam Reddy, region 5 director; and Sarah Thurlow, region 6 director.
There were also several awards given to the College of Nursing's SNA. FAU's SNA received awards for best legislative advocacy and political action, best communications to its members, and best faculty support of professional development. Queen received an individual award for her work in FNSA. FAU's College of Nursing also won 1st place for its banner as it best represented the convention theme, "Together Stronger Bolder." Finally, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing SNA won the top award in the state - the Diamond Chapter Award.
