Cameron Duncan, Ph.D., DNP, Named Dean of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing
Florida Atlantic University has named Cameron G. Duncan, Ph.D., DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, CNE, FAANP, as the new Holli Rockwell Trubinsky Eminent Dean of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. He is the fourth dean to be appointed in the college’s 45-year history. Dr. Duncan recently served as the interim dean of the Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he had previously served as the director of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program since 2017.
Dr. Duncan will assume his role as dean effective January 27, 2025. In his new position at Florida Atlantic, Dr. Duncan will work closely with faculty, staff and local community partners to further enhance the college’s clinical, educational and research initiatives. His extensive background in academic achievement, clinical practice and scholarship will complement the college's strength, as a leader in caring science and scholarship.

Dr. Duncan earned a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNR), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Arizona. He is also dually board certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner. During his deanship at UNR, Dr. Duncan has been responsible for the academic progress of over 500 graduate and undergraduate students, stewardship of a $9.8 million budget and the development of the school’s new strategic plan to better align with UNR’s mission and goals appropriate to the institution’s R1 status.
In 2016, he opened the Duncan Family Healthcare facility in Reno, NV, which was the first Advanced Practice Registered Nurse clinic in northern Nevada. The facility focuses on mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance use disorders and personality disorders.
Dr. Duncan previously served as an Advancing Academic Excellence for Deans Fellow with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) in 2023.
