Q&A with College Advisory Board Member Melissa Durbin
January 6, 2022
What inspired you to get involved and support the College of Nursing as an advisory board member?
As a nurse leader and graduate of FAU's Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, I was truly honored to become an advisory board member. The advisory board works collaboratively with the College to support initiatives and connect the community with our wonderful College, ensuring continued growth in developing our nurses and academic programs.
What do you admire most about our students?
The caring philosophy of the College is very dear to my heart. It is the Art of Nursing that is so special. The studies required for a nursing degree prepare students with knowledge related to nursing practice. It is the mixture of the science and art of nursing that makes FAU nursing graduates very special. You can see, hear and feel their caring and compassion.
What is your hope for the future of the College?
The Christine E Lynn College of Nursing is known for its community service, academic excellence and nursing research. Its programs are innovative and provide various career paths for nurses. I hope this work continues to expand.
Could you share professional and personal interests?
My five grandchildren bring so much joy to my life. I love spending time with them and creating memories with them. I love to travel and am an avid cruiser with my oldest grandson.
