FAU College of Nursing Supports Back-to-School Events

As children throughout our local communities gear up to head back to school, FAU's College of Nursing is dedicated to actively participating in various Back-to-School events.

Nursing students, alongside Drs. Nancy Harris and Elizabeth Tsarnas, actively participated in two significant events. At the ALPI Head Start/Early Head Start Health Fair in Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, they provided health screening and nutritional counseling for children attending Head Start programs. Additionally, during the Back to School Expo sponsored by the City of Fort Pierce, they completed nearly 60 sports physicals for the youth of St. Lucie County.

Our nurse-led mobile health unit recently participated in the Palm Beach County Back-to-School event at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Nursing students joined Dr. Karethy Edwards, Executive Director of the FAU NCHA Community Health Center, in offering immunizations and mental health assessments.

The College of Nursing is also collecting school supplies for the Florida State Representative Patricia William's Back to School Community Event. This initiative aims to support local students in their educational journey.
