Biography

Dr. Winland-Brown is a Professor Emeritus and taught for The College of Nursing for 32 years. She was on the Boca Campus for 20 years and was Asst. Dean when she moved to the PSL campus to start up the BSN program, then moved to Harbor Branch with the nurse practitioner program. She continues to precept students in her practice as an NP- med students from FSU and NP and DNP students from FAU.

She founded Iota Xi, the 228th chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and was the first President. Dr. Winland-Brown is a Distinguished Teacher of FAU, the first from the College of Nursing.

For two years, during a week in each year, she was a Visiting Scholar in Ethics at Oxford University. She is a researcher, author, and clinician. Her Primary Care Text (the 6th edition which just came out in 2023) which she writes with 2 other NPs and a physician, is the number one NP text used in more programs globally than any other textbook. She has 5 children (his, mine, and ours) and besides practicing weekly, she is active in community theater, and plays tennis competitively.
