Biography

Dr. Rebecca S. Koszalinski’s clinical practice, teaching, research, and service are unreservedly centered on older adults, the use of technology, and environmental pressures.  Among other professional designations, she is a Fellow (FARN) of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) and a founding member and Fellow of the Society of Nurses, Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Leaders (SONSIEL; FIEL). After completion of a BSN at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, an MS in Education and Ph.D. at Florida Atlantic University, she was appointed an Assistant Professor appointment at the University of Tennessee, followed by an Associate Professor appointment at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). While conducting research at OUHSC during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Dr. Koszalinski noted unanticipated negative outcomes of social isolation in older persons living in nursing homes, assisted living and the rural community, leading her to expand her research to focus older adults and their unique needs. At FAU, Dr. Koszalinski is funded to lead a collaborative  and highly specialized team of research scientists to discover health outcomes of exposure to Harmful Algal Blooms, a unique and pressing query for Floridians
