Judyta Kociolek

Kathy MunizMy name is Judyta Kociolek. I am originally from Poland. I have been a registered nurse for over 10 years. I graduated with an associate degree from Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander, WI in 2011. My first nursing job was in Midland Memorial Hospital, in Midland, TX, on the oncology floor. I absolutely loved it, and at that time, I knew that oncology is my calling. After a couple of years, I received a great opportunity to move to Austin, TX and help to build a new bone marrow transplant program at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. From a floor nurse, I became a charge nurse and a nursing supervisor.

After a couple of years, I decided to transition into outpatient setting. Thus, I accepted a job as an infusion nurse. I administered chemotherapy and immunotherapy to cancer patients. I also got exposed to research and clinical trials. I was fascinated with research, and really wanted to learn more. From that time, I knew that my ultimate goal is to work in research and become a nurse scientist.

When it comes to my educational pathway, I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in 2015. I started a nurse practitioner program at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2016, but very soon decided that I do not want to be a nurse practitioner. When I moved to Florida in 2017, I chose to change my master’s program orientation. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) with a master's degree in nursing management and financial leadership in 2019. I also hold a Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card from Oncology Nursing Society.

During my educational journey at FAU, I worked in Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Lynn Cancer Institute as an oncology/infusion nurse. In 2021, I was given an opportunity to finally become a research nurse coordinator at Lynn Cancer Institute. However, in January 2022, I was offered a research nurse position at the FAU Clinical Research Unit, and after a thorough consideration, I accepted it. I have to say that joining FAU team was life changing. In July 2022, I was promoted to Interim Director of Clinical Research Unit Operations, and this month, I accepted a permanent position as a Director of Clinical Research Unit Operations.

It has been a pleasure working at FAU with researchers and professors. I love my job! This is the reason why I decided to pursue a doctorate degree, also at FAU. I am honored to work here and also to receive my education at this institution.
