Introduction to the Nursing Administration & Financial Leadership Concentration
This track integrates the caring philosophy into organizational management. Its core and cognate courses provide study central to advanced nursing management and financial practice; the nursing concentration courses offer content and practice in nursing and health care administration and finance, relevant to primary, secondary and/or tertiary settings in rapidly changing times.
The Administrative and Financial Leadership in Nursing and Health Care track curriculum can be taken completely online and the needs of students in other geographic areas can be accommodated for the practicum. The track requires a minimum of 37-39 credit hours for completion. Full and part time program of study options are available. The curriculum contains a minimum of 180-270 hours of required practical related to administrative and financial management in health care organization(s). Students will find a preceptor who will mentor them throughout this portion of the curriculum. Decisions about preceptors will be made with the advisement.

In keeping with Florida Atlantic University's philosophy as a distributed university, courses may be held on varying campuses over the program of study with various modes of delivery. This may include live classes/weekend format classes/TV classes/web-assisted classes/ and/or on-line offerings. Campuses include Boca Raton, Broward County/Davie, and the Treasure Coast.

Applicants with an MSN seeking specialization in another concentration requiring less than 30 credit hours should consider applying for a Post Master’s Certificate (PMC).
PMC applicants may be considered for a Fall or Spring admission and are accepted on a space available basis. PMC applicants complete the Step 1 of the application process (FAU application) and submit the supplementary application materials to student services via Karen Kasmer. (PMC Applicants do not submit supplementary materials through NursingCAS).
Once accepted, a gap analysis will be completed to determine the required courses for each student. Students must provide syllabi from other institutions for all transfer courses.
Second MSN Degree Option
Applicants that have a MSN degree seeking specialization in another concentration requiring 30 credits or more to complete required courses in the new concentration should consider applying for a second MSN degree. Second MSN degree applicants should complete Step 1 and Step 2 of the application process (FAU and NursingCAS) by published deadlines. A minimum of 30 credit hours is required to earn a second MSN degree from FAU.
Once accepted, an analysis will be completed to determine each student’s plan of study. Students must provide syllabi from other institutions for all transfer courses.
