I am privileged to be selected as the second Dean of our very special College of Nursing. The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is guided organizationally and administratively by our unique model of relating. This model of relating is based on the concept of the dance of caring persons (Boykin & Schoenhofer). Each faculty and staff member in the College is dancing in the circle contributing her or his unique talents to the missions of the College. While we have formal administrative roles, leadership and governance are shared. There are times when each staff and faculty member is called to lead in the dance based on individual energy and gifts. Leaders change and rhythms shift, but all of us embrace our mission, vision and values. That’s what grounds us and gives us meaning and purpose to the College. I am so proud to be a member of this community as we strive to advance our dedication to Caring in nursing: advancing the science, practicing the art, studying its meaning and living it day-to-day.
