Admission Requirements

Official transcripts from all prior institutions attended. All concentrations submit one set of official transcripts to FAU Graduate Admissions*.  NP applicants are required to submit 2 sets of official transcripts: one set to FAU and one set to NursingCAS.


* FAU Graduates are not required to submit transcripts to FAU but must submit FAU transcripts to NursingCAS if applying for an NP concentration.  
Earned BSN from a regionally accredited university and  a CCNE or ACEN  accredited nursing program 
Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the final 60 baccalaureate-level course credits in the B.S.N. program, or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores are required for applicants with a grade point average of less than 3.0. 
Basic statistics course (FAU STA2014 or STA2023 or equivalent)
Baccalaureate level nursing research course 
It is recommended (not required) that applicants enrolling in MSN concentrations requiring the Direct Care Core take undergraduate pathophysiology, health assessment and pharmacology or retake the courses they are more than five years from admission.

One electronic letter of recommendation requested through the FAU application or NursingCAS System (NP applicants only). You will need to provide a name and email address for the person providing the recommendation.

Current RN licensure (submit copy of license or online license verification from the department of health acceptable

Students must be licensed in the state in which they will complete practicum courses. 
A state/federal criminal background check is required for all admitted students. If admitted to the graduate nursing program the student MUST initiate the background check process as required before enrolling in courses. Costs are the responsibility of the applicant/student.  All admissions are conditional based on the outcome of the admission background check. Background checks must be updated annually by signed Oath and Affirmation statements. 

 

Applicants must meet all admission requirements and submit all supplemental application materials. Incomplete applicants will not be considered for admission.
