Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Overview

The Clinical Nurse Leader track at Florida Atlantic University is a 33 credit program leading to a Master of Science degree in Nursing and qualifications to sit for a Clinical Nurse Leader certification examination. Courses are provided by the FAU colleges of Nursing and Business, both of which are nationally accredited colleges.

The Clinical Nurse Leader track curriculum is a 33 semester hour part-time program designed to be completed in six (6) semesters. At the completion of coursework students are required to complete a 400 hour practicum working as Clinical Nurse Leaders in clinical partner sites. Students will be assigned a preceptor who will mentor them throughout this portion of the curriculum and will also take a supporting practicum seminar course.

Preceptor and practicum/clinical site decisions are determined in collaboration between faculty and students. Every effort is made to accommodate the practicum/clinical needs of students in various geographic locations.

FAU is authorized to offer online nursing programs in many states. Individual state authorization status is available online at http://fauelearning.com/fauonline/state-authorization/. If you are a resident of a state in which FAU is not currently authorized to provide post-secondary educational instruction, please contact us to discuss program options.
