Myesha Ponder

Myesha Ponder, a 27-year-old Miami native, obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in Health Education and Behavior. After spending time in the professional workforce, she found she was not making the impact she wished to make in this world. Myesha re-evaluated her goals and passions, which lead her to her original purpose -- to become a nurse.

Nursing has always held a special place in Myesha’s heart. In 2014, her mother was hospitalized with a 75% blockage in her heart which led to triple coronary bypass surgery. During those daunting days, the nurses treated her mother and her family with the utmost care and provided them with constant education. This situation moved Myesha to look for an opportunity to care for, provide education, and better the health of not only her mother but people around her.

Myesha aspires to gain experience as a travel nurse, and become a women's health nurse practitioner and nurse educator. She believes one of the greatest gifts is the capacity to learn all that is possible during a lifetime and share that knowledge with others.

FAU's 2nd Degree Part-Time BSN Track for Working Professionals aligns with her passions with a strong emphasis on caring. She is excited and thankful to be molded into the kind of nurse needed today.
