Neuropsychological Testing is a diagnostic procedure that is an integral part of any work-up for assessing a memory disorder or complaint of a memory problem. This non-invasive procedure involves a systematic assessment of attention, memory, reasoning, language, and other brain functions to identify the individual's pattern of relative strengths and weaknesses. At the conclusion, diagnostic impressions are offered, along with treatment recommendations. Neuropsychological assessment can help to detect early memory problems and differentiate dementia syndromes from normal aging. It is typically part of the Comprehensive Memory Evaluation at the Memory and Wellness Center, but can be provided as a separate service.
