Elise Bushong, BSN

Research Assistant

Elise Bushong Elise is a new graduate from the Freshman Direct Admission Nursing Program at Florida Atlantic University and graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Elise moved to Florida during the summer before her senior year of high school from Stuttgart, Germany. Her father who was a special operations soldier was deployed to Afghanistan for numerous months at a time while she was growing up in Germany. Her father has a German Shepard named Ranger, a sister who has two Dachshunds, Pretzel and Clifford, and a brother who has a Doberman and German Shepard mix, Veil and Coco. Elise is in the photo with her family friend’s dogs, Skippy and Harold, a Hungarian Vizsla and Brindle Boxer. Elise became interested in becoming part of the C-P.A.W.W. team because she has experienced the effects of PTSD from her father and how interacting with a dog helps these symptoms. Elise is eager to learn more about the human-animal bond and how this affects military veterans.
