FAU Student Nurses Association attended the Florida Nursing Student Association

Oct 28, 2019

Members of the FAU Student Nurses Association attended the annual convention of the Florida Nursing Student Association this past week. Congratulations on the following:

Members Alaiya Dewji and Samantha Algigi and their committees presented two resolutions before the House of Delegates, one concerning increasing funding for mental health and the other promoting the inclusion of transcultural nursing in curricula. They both were passed and move on to the national convention in April.

Three students were elected to state-wide office - Jessica Yoder as First Vice President; Nicole Petro as Treasurer; and Hannah Wexler as Region 5 Director.

Chapter President Tatiana Cavarrette won an FNSA scholarship.

FAU's SNA chapter won the Community Health Outreach award for local and global outreach; Legislative Advocacy Award for diligent work on advocacy for health care and patient outcomes; Breakthrough to Nursing award for advocacy of diversity in nursing; Communications award for the chapter's newsletter; and, for the fourth year in a row, FAU SNA was named the Diamond Chapter for Florida.

FNA board members and SNA faculty advisors all over the state commended our students for their level of commitment, engagement, and dedication. We're so proud of all their accomplishments!
