Dr. Sopcheck is an instructor in the college of nursing since fall of 2016. Her area of clinical expertise is critical care and emergency nursing. Her professional nursing career includes staff, managerial, and academic/clinically based teaching positions. She relocated to Florida in 2001 and continued her clinically based nursing career as a clinical specialist in emergency and critical care nursing and critical care charge nurse. While pursuing her PhD in nursing from Florida Atlantic University, she held positions as an assistant professor of nursing in a RN-BSN program and an undergraduate nursing program. She obtained her PhD in the spring of 2016. Her doctoral dissertation explored the health challenge of family members in end of life situations. Dr. Sopcheck’s research interest continues to focus on end of life care, with a particular interest in the older adult population and family member experiences in end of life situations in acute care settings.
