Bio

Dr. Shirley Countryman Gordon grew up in Palm Beach County and is a graduate of North Grade Elementary, Lake Worth Jr. High and Lake Worth High schools. She enjoys reading, walking on the beach and being an active member in her community.

 

Dr. Gordon's research areas of interest include caring for persons experiencing conditions involving stigma and chronicity and the development of caring theories to guide nursing practice.  She has multiple publications in national and international nursing journals and has received funding to support her research and service efforts in the areas of persistent head lice, disability, delegation and school nursing.

 

In addition to serving as the Interim Director of the Master's Program, Dr. Gordon directs the Head Lice Treatment and Prevention Project and is co-director of the Florida School Nurse Research Initiative.
