Message from Dr. Anne J. Boykin,
Dean & Professor, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing
What an exciting time in your life!
As you consider nursing as a career, you are making a choice to care – about yourself, about others and about the world in which we live. Caring is a commitment. It is a gift. It is a life direction. And while the choice to become a caring professional may be challenging, few other vocations are as richly rewarding.
Just as important as your choice of nursing is your choice of college. The philosophy of each school presents a unique lens through which you will study: If that focus is on technology, or disease, then that framework will inform your approach to your practice. Simply put, how you study nursing defines the nurse you will become.
At the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, we are committed to nurturing the wholeness of persons and the environment through caring. Our lens of caring directs our focus of being with those nursed. It guides us in coming to know that which matters and our response to it.
Embarking on an education in nursing studies is just the beginning of a remarkable journey in this privileged and awesome profession. We encourage you to explore our programs as you make this important decision and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
