Biography

Suzie Kaye joined the C.E. Lynn College of Nursing in November of 2016 as Coordinator of the Simulation and Professional Practice lab.  Prior to assuming this position, Suzie was a Nursing Administrator for the Bismarck State College, Dakota Nursing Program in Bismarck, ND for 11 years.  Suzie promoted simulation in 2008 and helped develop simulation curriculum and the project design of the simulation lab.    Suzie’s love of teaching and simulation has been intertwined throughout her academic career.   Suzie lived in North Dakota for over 40 years, and now enjoys the seaside living of south Florida.   She loves nature study, wheel thrown pottery, cooking, and golfing.   She lives in Boynton Beach with her husband David and two dogs.  She has three sons, Ryan, Chris and Jon.

  • Responsible for the overall coordination of the Simulation and practice lab with the undergraduate and graduate level programs. 
  • Create and coordinate the simulation learning environment for all clinical courses in the undergraduate program.
  • Oversee both faculty and graduate teaching assistants in providing clinical simulation learning experiences.
  • Maintain Simulation equipment and budgeted items for the Simulation and practice lab.

  • Lead instructor for NURS225 Alterations in Health I Medical Surgical Nursing.

  • Focus on Simulation.  Attendance to National Simulation Conferences:  INASCL, Laerdal SUN.

Program Administrator of the Practical and Associate Degree Nursing Program at Bismarck State College (BSC)

  • Led the A.C.E.N. Initial accreditation for BSC.  Received full accreditation April 2016 before leaving the program.
  • Provided leadership within the program promoting a healthy environment that was conducive to teaching & learning with respect for all team members.
  • Managed and maintained program budget including grant monies.
  • Maintained a positive relationship with other consortium members within the Dakota Nursing program and statewide college and universities.
  • Achieved high standards for nursing curriculum development, policy and implementation.  
  • Advised and counseled potential and current students about program requirements and policy.
  • Coordinated the overall nursing program curriculum at Bismarck State College, involving communication with clinical facility partners, administers, students and instructors.

Recent Publications

Presentations:

  • Testified at the ND legislative 2009 Assembly with Senate Bill 2266. Simulation sub recipient obtained with the ARRA American Recovery Reinvestment Act Funding.
  • Master Thesis presented 2006:  “Love of Nursing” Qualitative Phenomenological research presentation.
